Troy Polamalu signed a five year, $33 million contract (four year extension, with this year’s salary staying the sTroy Polamaluame) with the Steelers earlier today in a move that is win-win for both parties. With about $15 million of the contract being given in signing and roster bonuses, Polamalu assured that he would receive the lion’s share of his money from the Steelers and not be cut like ex-leader Joey Porter was, for monetary reasons. The Steelers keep the leaders of their defense and, undeniably, one of the most exciting players in football today. Having a happy Polamalu in camp is going to be huge for Mike Tomlin, as the leader will be willing to lead for the new coach as opposed to against him.

The contract is the largest in Steeler history.
