5 Reasons Why I’m Going to See Matt Morris Tonight
The Matt Morris trade has been criticized by everyone and their grandmother, including us…twice. However, I’m going to the game tonight to attend the debut of the highest paid player in Pirates’ history.
5 - He has lost four straight decisions and he hasn’t won since June 11th. He’s due for a good outing.
4 - He is currently 7-7 with a 4.35 ERA. That means he was 7-3 at some point with an ERA of 2.56. He has the talent; it just comes in spurts. Besides, finishing 10-10 is a major accomplishment for a Pirate.
3 - Believe it or not, Morris is significantly better this year than last, when he went 10-15 with an ERA that dipped below five. I can’t stress this enough. Sure, he is an aging pitcher, but his last few starts appear to be outliers. Several of them are one run games.
2 - He leads the majors with three complete games this season. I would love to see him shut up his detractors, if only until his next start, with a gem tonight.
1 - I bought these tickets more than a month ago when I found out that they were giving out Homestead Grays Replica Jerseys.
Anyone else’s opinions?
