On Paulino and Wieters

Just some stuff I found from hopping around the internet including Ronny Paulino, Matt Wieters, a terrible pitcher, and a deceased legend (jump):

  • The Mets are possibly interested in Ronny Paulino again. I think that the Pirates should try to figure out exactly what they have in the catcher before even talking to Omar Minaya again. This is the GM who convinced Dave Littlefield that a potential stud young pitcher and supplemental first round draft pick were worth a (then) platoon outfielder. Minaya is an excellent evaluator of talent and the Pirates should be wary when dealing with him. It is also worth noting, however, that Latin American players seem to excel in the heavily Hispanic clubhouse that Minaya has put together at Shea Stadium.
  • Does the Daniel Moskos pick over Matt Wieters look so stupid now? (Answer: yes, because the Pirates should not have taken Wieters. They should have taken Jarred Parker, Jason Heyward, or Beau Mills)
  • Adam Eaton really sucks. This, of course, means seven shutout innings Friday.
  • Phil Rizzuto, you lived a life that is best summed up by your most famous words: Holy Cow! RIP.
