My solution is more radical (and less likely to be accepted). Reg. Win: 5 pts OT Win: 4 pts SO Win: 3 pts SO Loss: 2 pts OT Loss: 1 pt Reg. Loss: 0 pts This would make it more valuable to attempt to win in regulation or OT, but of course would also mean teams could just try to hold on and get 2 pts in the shootout.
