Best. Game. Ever.
The Penguins won Game 5 in Joe Louis Arena in triple overtime on Monday night/Tuesday morning. Maxime Talbot scored with 35 seconds left to push the game to 3-3 tie and then two and a half more intense periods of hockey were played until Petr Sykora, who called his own goal on national TV, shot the puck over Chris Osgood’s shoulder and into the net to give the Penguins a 4-3 victory. Marc-Andre Fleury had basically the game of his life, making 55 saves in order to keep the Red Wings from winning. The game was easily one of the best in Penguins’ and in Finals’ history and may be one of the best in NHL history. Feel free to include your take on this memorable game as well as where you were, how you celebrated and how you think the series will play out in comments on this post. A much longer post will be coming out from me tonight, but for now I need some sleep.
